H.L. (Sonny) Callahan

Mr. Callahan served in the U.S. Congress from Alabama for eight terms, from 1985 to 2003, and is President of Sonny Callahan and Associates, LLC, a government consulting company in Washington, D.C. and Mobile, Alabama. Mr. Callahan serves on the Board of Directors of 3001 International, Inc., a CMEP portfolio company.

Representative Callahan was a member of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, and during his tenure, he chaired the Foreign Operations, Export Financing and Related Programs, and the Energy and Water Development subcommittees. Mr. Callahan was not a candidate for re-election to the 108th Congress in 2002.

Prior to his service the U.S. Congress, Mr. Callahan was a member of the Alabama state house of representatives, 1971-1979; and a member of the Alabama state senate, 1979-1983. Mr. Callahan owned and operated several businesses in southern Alabama.

Mr. Callahan serves on the board of Radiance Corporation in Huntsville, Alabama, and was appointed in 2006 to the Alabama State Port Authority board by Governor Robert R. Riley.

Mr. Callahan served in the United States Navy, 1952-1954, and attended the University of Alabama, Mobile, AL, 1959-1960.
